Celebrities, pols and pundits alike celebrated the “diversity in media” and in everyday American life on Friday at the “Our Voices: Celebrating Diversity in Media” reception, dedicated to just that.
Actor Daniel Dae Kim from the TV series “Lost” and “Hawaii Five-O,” gave prepared remarks at the event and praised the current commander-in-chief.
Kim, a self-professed “fan” of Obama said that he hoped a Democrat would win the much-anticipated 2016 election, being a strong left voter himself. Among the issues he hopes to see the president tackle is the elusive gun control bill.

“Gun control continues to be a huge issue that seems to have more obstacles than anyone ever anticipated and that’s something I’d really like to see some progress made on,” Kim told POLITICO.
Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa also said he wanted to see some things get done in Washington.
“Let’s get some accomplishments in this [congressional] session and the next before we start thinking about 2016,” the Democrat, who is also a strong supporter of Obama, said. “But there are a lot of great people obviously. Hillary Clinton is one of them, a great friend of mine, but…she’s not decided yet so there are other good people possibly could throw their hat in the ring. Vice President Biden…would be another one and Martin O’Malley and others…But we’ll see.”
Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius, who was also in attendance with her son and daughter-in-law, said that the Voto Latino event is one of her favorite events due to the interesting mix of people and the authenticity of the party.
